•What is the difference between traditional Keratin and The Taming Studio Illuminate Vegan Keratin?

Our exclusive formula is developed with innovative Nanoscience technology and Bio-acids working on a molecular level repairing, smoothing and strengthening the hair from the inside out. Our innovative nutrient rich components restore, preserve and protect the integrity of the hair without the use of Formaldehyde and its derivatives or any harsh or harmful chemicals. Our formula does not only act as a smoothing treatment, but works on the health of your hair and repairing on an molecular level while smoothing defrizzing and softening the cuticle layer.


•What are the benefits of Illuminate Vegan Keratin?

•Does the Keratin leave a coating on your hair?

We have avoided silicones and incorporated elements that act on a molecular level without leaving an artificial impermeable coating on your strands. Traditional chemical straightening/Keratin treatments mostly act on a surface level focusing on "straightening/smoothing" the cuticle layer and use silicones to create an impermeable layer "waterproofing" hair fibres to achieve this. This varnish like coating masks damage to the cuticles by smoothing the hair and create an illusion of healthy shiny hair. From an outside perspective the hair appears healthy as aligned cuticles reflect shine, but internally the hair remains fragile and damaged. This coating prevents moisture and nutrients from hair products to penetrate the cuticle efficiently and can lead to dry, dull, brittle hair and breakage once the treatment begins to wear off.
Illuminate Vegan Keratin is Halal certified globally.


•How much will the Keratin treatment cost?

We determine the base price of the treatment by measuring the length of the hair in cm from the crown (highest point of the hair) to the longest tip when stretched. Additional charges for thickness, density and porosity will be advised once we physically asses the hair at your appointment.

• Do we need to do anything to prepare our hair for the treatment?

We professionally detox your hair in order for us to conduct and analysis and hair health assessment at your appointment. Please do not arrive with extremely oily hair as this can delay the detoxification step and may incur a surcharge.
Please arrive to your appointment with hair washed no more than 3 days prior.
Do not oil your hair for 2 weeks prior to your appointment to avoid build up. Please ensure you follow the recommended intervals advised here for bleaching/hair dye.

•How long will the results last?

Results can last anywhere between 3-6 months or as your hair grows out, following the recommended aftercare steps, even longer with proper maintenance.


•How long does the treatment take?

Between 3-5.5 hrs depending on the length, thickness, porosity, density and overall health of your hair. Please allocate enough time for your appointment.

•Should we wash our hair before our appointment?

Please arrive to your appointment with hair washed no more than 3 days prior.
We professionally detox your hair at your appointment in order for us to conduct an analysis and arriving with extremely oily hair will delay your appointment.

•Do you offer hair cuts?

Yes, we do offer haircuts and styling services. Our experienced stylists are here to provide you with the perfect look tailored to your preferences.


•How long do I have to wait to wash my hair after the Keratin treatment?

You are able to wash your hair immediately after your treatment. There is no downtime with our Keratin treatment.


•When can I colour my hair?

Hair dye must be carried out 2-3 weeks before or after your Keratin treatment. If colouring before, your colour may fade 1-2 tones depending on your colour build up.
If you colour after your Keratin this may result in prematurely affecting the results of the Keratin as colours with Ammonia swell the cuticle allowing the Keratin to prematurely bleed. 100% Ammonia free hair colour is the preferred option to avoid too much of the Keratin being stripped and for the overall health of your hair.


•When can I bleach my hair?

Bleaching and highlights should be done 3-4 weeks prior to your Keratin treatment.
Carrying out a bleach session after your keratin will strip out and undo your expensive Keratin treatment.


•Does Illuminate Vegan Keratin contain Formaldehyde or any harmful ingredients?

Our formula contains 0.0% Formaldehyde and its derivatives. Our products follow a strict quality standard and meet the national and international standards of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as well as the main global regulatory bodies such as: FDA (Food and Drug Administration), AICIS (Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme), SFDA (Saudi Food and Drug Authority) and ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) ANVISA ( The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) and have been tested and absent from formaldehyde, microbiologic, toxic heavy metal, free bovine spongiform encephalopathy, CMR (substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction)


•Is Illuminate Vegan Keratin tested on animals?

All The Taming Studio Products are proudly 100% Vegan and cruelty free containing no animal products or animal by-products of any kind nor tested on animals. Our composition is formulated with revolutionary plant based actives avoiding the use of animal keratin found in traditional treatments.


•Can I get this treatment done if I have previously done a chemical straightening treatment?

Yes however there must be a minimum of 16 weeks between treatments. Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin is compatible with all chemical treatments, however it depends on the health of your hair. If your hair is extremely damaged, we suggest you use our Ultimate Hair Repair Trio to restore and strengthen your hair from within before considering a Keratin treatment for enhanced results. We also offer strand tests for a small fee.


•Is Illuminate Vegan Keratin Chemical free?

The term "Chemical free" does not exist. Everything around us is a chemical including water and the air we breathe. The claims of "Chemical free treatments" should never be used as it is not possible and simply doesn't exist.
Our formula is developed with naturally derived ingredients, essential oils, and nourishing butters and contain no harsh or harmful chemicals, everything goes through a safe chemical process in order for it to perform.


•What hair type is suitable to receive Illuminate Vegan Keratin?

Anyone that wishes to have smooth, healthy shiny hair without the frizz! Suitable for straight hair that wants to deeply moisturise and enhance softness and shine to Afro type hair wanting to increase manageability and smoothness.


•Will this make my hair dead straight?

This is not a “Chemical straightening treatment" that guarantees pin straight hair no matter the texture or health of your hair. We customise the treatment based on your natural texture and the health of your hair, we aim to reduce curls and straighten the hair by 65-95% leaving you with softer, straighter, healthier hair with little to no frizz! The healthier the hair, the more intensified the results will be.


•Can I get this treatment done on bleached/ highlighted hair?

Yes, however if your hair is extremely damaged and lost elasticity it is recommended to focus on repairing the hair prior to receiving a Keratin treatment to enhance results. We may turn the client away if the hair is extremely damaged and lost elasticity.


•When can I swim after getting the Keratin treatment done?

Salt water and Chlorine are harsh on the hair with or without a Keratin treatment. Swimming dries out your hair and can strip out your keratin especially in the first 2 weeks of receiving the treatment. Prior to swimming, apply conditioner to your hair focusing on the lengths as this forms a barrier from the salt/chlorine and prevents the Keratin prematurely bleeding. After swimming always rinse your hair in fresh water for a few minutes, shampoo then apply our Intensive moisturising mask for 5-10 mins, then rinse.


•Do you treat the new hair growth at the next appointment or treat the whole hair?

Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin is a progressive treatment meaning the more you do it, the softer, straighter and healthier your hair becomes. The treatment will be repeated from roots to ends each session.


•How soon can I get the Keratin treatment done again?

Generally, there is no need to re-do the treatment before the 3 month mark. The benefits will slowly fade away and you’ll be able to notice your frizz and waves/curls making their appearance especially at the hairline, so you’ll know when it is time to rebook typically at the 3-4 months mark.


•Is it safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin contains 0.0% Formaldehyde which is a known carcinogen. There are no harsh chemicals making it safe for nursing and expectant mothers. However, it is recommended you discuss with your GP prior to getting any treatment done.


•Is it safe for children?

Yes. Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin contains 0.0% Formaldehyde which is a known carcinogen. There are no harsh chemicals making it safe for children. We treat children from 7+years old.


•Are there specific hair products you have to use?

Yes. You must use Sulphate free / Sodium Chloride Free and Alcohol-free hair care.
We created The Taming Studio Hair Care to compliment our Keratin treatment and prolong the longevity of your results while continuing to nourish, repair and strengthen your hair from within. If you choose to use a different brand then we can not guarantee there are no nasty hidden chemicals that can contribute to shortening the life span of your Keratin treatment.


•Can we do the treatment to keep the curls and just reduce frizz?

We can definitely customise the treatment to suit your desired results, however a Keratin treatment is aimed to smooth out the hair and stretch out the curl. If you are looking to keep all your curls intact and just remove frizz then a Keratin Treatment probably isn’t ideal for you.
If you’re looking to stretch out your curls leaving you with softer waves while reducing frizz, then yes, we can meet your requirements.


•Will the Keratin dry out my hair?

Not at all. Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin injects your cuticles with essential nutrients, nourishing oils, protein and amino acids resulting in the Ultimate hydration. You must continue to maintain your results with the correct aftercare.
Once your results completely fade, your hair will only ever be as dry as it was before your treatment, however, if you continue to use The Taming Studio Hair Care, your hair will continually feel moisturised, strong and healthy.

•Does the Keratin treatment make your hair oily?

If you’re prone to oily hair, you may find that your hair will get oilier for the first couple of weeks and if you generally have dry hair and scalp you will notice that your hair will get oily quicker. This is because the Keratin treatment smooths down your cuticles and your natural oils will travel down the hair shaft a lot quicker. Once the new growth begins, this will settle. You’ll also find yourself touching and running your fingers through your soft silky hair which can also make your hair oily quickly.


•Will the Keratin treatment damage my hair?

No, Our formula is developed with naturally derived ingredients and no harsh chemicals focusing on strengthening and moisturising your hair from within. Once the treatment completely fades away (if you don’t repeat a next treatment) your hair will only ever be as dry/damaged as it was prior to your Keratin treatment. We recommend you continue using our Ultimate Hair Repair Trio for continual hydration and repair.


•Will the Keratin reverse the damage in my hair?

No treatment can reverse hair damage and definitely not in one session. Our Illuminate Vegan Keratin repairs damage to a certain extent, strengthens your hair fibres to prevent hair breakage while deeply moisturising your hair. A client must maintain focus on breaking bad hair habits at home i.e.: using high heat frequently, regular bleaching, using harsh hair products, over washing etc to avoid damaging the hair further while getting regular trims.
